Update: More oil leaking from oil pump, Attn: Anders

About two weeks ago I replaced the oil pump o-ring and the main shaft seal to stop up some oil leakage. It did the trick for about two weeks now. But my head gasket/timing chain cover area was still leaking a slight bit of oil. Here tonight I look under the car and there is a puddle of oil. I pull the side access skirting and see the sub frame and lower oil pan is covered in oil. I clean it all up and start the engine and in about 5 minutes it starts oozing oil from behind the main pulley. Damn, I just can't win. I am almost sure it is the pump o-ring given the spead at which it leaks out. What gives with these seals? I shouldn't have to slobber the whole thing up in sealant or hylomar in order to get this to seal should I? Installing that seal isn't rocket science and I know I didn't damage it when I installed it. Cripes, it held for two weeks! I don't want to make this a monthly maintenance routine. Any ideas?
On the plus side, it seems like the oil leakage that I was having from the top of the timing chain cover/head junction has slowed up or stopped. Could this be related? I.e. when pump is sealed the head leaks, when pump leaks the head doesn't? Does this have anything to do with crankcase ventilation? I am baffled and now somewhat worried as to the state of this car.
