Other have replaced the fuel pressure regulator and that took care of the problem.
Maybe I just got lucky to free up whatever got lodged in the regulator.
It have been quite a bit of postings about this topic through the years with long cranking after the fuel filter had been replaced but it had never happened to me until now.
I have been a little bit suspicious toward those original Saab sealing washers since I always see old rubber fragments shredded off when removing fuel filter and some fragments are hiding inside the banjo bolt or fuel fitting.
Also, back in the old days with the CIS injected 8 valve engine, it is a couple of times where I had to take the fuel distributor apart to clean out rubber fragments from narrow passages. The fuel filter sits adjacent to distributor on those cars.
