9-3 Viggen DRL's

I am in the process of purchasing a 2001 9-3 Viggen Cabriolet. I noticed in all of the three that I test drove that all the vehicle lights are on all of the time. Not like other cars, where its just front lights at low intensity, this is all lights, even when the switch is in the parking light position. Is there a way to eliminate this? I love DRL's, but I need to be able to shut off my lights when the car runs. For example, I often come on and off of a military base to visit a friend, and you have to leave your engine running but switch to parking lights on approach of the entrance, what would I do? Any advice?
