NEAT! I have a 2001 S with 53k on the clock. So far, all I've had are tires, and a MAF. Sorry to hear about the top. Mine's been perfect. I use Novus on the window and RaggTop on the cloth. I have had to tighten the cables once or twice, but everything has been perfect otherwise.
I don't remember the production dates, but, some early 2000s and older had problems with the cylendar sleeves slipping. I think that PCNA has been pretty forgiving with the coverage of engine replacements in those cases.
I understand your trepedation with the Saab. They do seem to have a lot of weak spots. I don't know whether it's the bean counters forcing the use of cheaper materials or whether the designs aren't very robust from the beginning. But, it is bothersome, regardless. On the bright side, you've just replaced just about everything that can really go wrong. There aren't a whole lot of things left, but, I won't mention them lest I jinx it! :)
