Do CEL's reset?

My 98 900s threw a CEL and I got it read at autozone - "bank 1 O2 sensor". I let it sit for while because O2 sensor isnt the end of the world...and now the CEL is off. Did it reset after a # of restarts, or do you think it was just fouled up & somehow got cleaned off? Don't want to have my indy replace something that aint broke. Thanks in advance.
