What's that loop? I'm guessing part of the crankcase vent, which is a steel tube going around the end of the VC.
My '01 (T-7) has a different arrangement of vacuum hoses, but check for vacuum leaks. A hose for the EVAP purge valve used to rub against the corner of the valve cover. It would have rubbed a hole thru the hose, but I noticed it & tied it back so it doesn't touch. Look for stuff like that.
Try the garden-hose stethoscope trick. See if you can rule out a noisy idler pulley on the drive belt?
