SID out, but radio never did get out

The SID came out once it was levered out a sixteen of an inch or so using a cheap cheese cutter. Yep. The better tools for this job came out of a collection of paint scrapers, cheese slicers, spatulas, and knives. My usual tool kit was pretty useless. This SID removal can be done without the radio being moved at all.
The radio. That is another matter. The recommended procedure is that the radio is supposed to come out in order to get the SID out. In my case, I do not think the radio is coming out short of gaining access behind it somehow; such as getting the SID out first and then pushing from behind. LOL. One guy in the archives got his radio out by removing part of the surrounding panels for a push from the rear.
Silicone lubrication of the chassis for future removals?
Meanwhile, the SID-2 is going to be sent to Guy Senesac for his surgical treatment. He claims he has now done around 100 SIDs. He says one person sent him a replacement SID which they had bought new from Saab to replace their original bad unit. The replacement unit had an '04 manufacture date, was beyond the 12 month parts warranty, and was throwing pixels. GM has no shame in continuing to put this part out in the same flimsy condition year after year. I'll post the outcome of Guy's repairs sometime in the not too distant future.
