The T7 DIs' are not long lived, but the T5's last quite well. Mine failed at 108,000. Some that are city driven with lesser miles but aging can become flakey and misfire and can be replaced in a service appointment. Otherwise they mostly fail sudden death with no warning.
You might consider getting a new on now and avoid the tow truck, dealer labour, sale tax and the problems with a dead Saab, in your driveway or out in the middle of nowhere in a snow storm. And the DI from eeuroparts.com will be less than dealer cost. Some dealers have been reported to charge 7-800 plus labour!
