It's no difference between the two except the packaging.
The hardware inside the is the same. So no, their aint no improved pieces to get. Just replace all the pulleys and belt every 60K miles and you should be good to go.
When all this broke in mid 90s and Saab came out with the 30K belt change interval it was because they wanted to get all the cars in and taken care of as soon as possible. Kind of like a "silent recall".
Saab installed for free a whole new kit containing three pulleys, a mounting bracket and a belt. This was due to that they claimed the tensioner pulley installed from factory in 94, 95 and 96 V6 could let go and ruining the belt and engine.
The 97 900 V6 had the new style tensioner from factory and the belt change interval was in that model 60K miles.
It is the newer style pulleys that we now see go bad on the 9-5 models and it is not always the tensioner pulley but could sometimes be the middle idler pulley too.
