A month before snow install I was compelled to replace one of my rear BFG TA due to bubble / busted belt (that's what a 4" drill bit will do in case you're wondering).
So I've got a <1K mile tire, ~10K tire from the rear, and my front tires w/ ~10K are pretty well worn, money no object I'd replace them.
There's still some tread and wear before wear bars, but they won't make another summer up front. judging by the light wear on the rears these would go there next year.
Would I be unwise to put a 10Ktire up front with a 1K tire? Noticeable differnce in tread, if driveability is a concern they'll go back to the rear
but i'd like precautions and pitfalls of putting slightly different sized tires up front, w.r.t transmission / transfer case wear etc etc.
Tires are 205/50R16
