who knows at this point? I reached the point where I wanted the display back in the car, especially when I was travelling and channel surfing. In the winter, in the Northeast, knowing the temperature is a safety feature. I could pay Saab, or pay aftermarked guys, the long buck every two or three years, or I could try the DIY fixes, which are kinda ramshackle and risky to having a unit at all, or I could go looking for used parts, or I could have it professionally fixed by a fellow who does this kind of work for a living. They are all risks. The professional repair seemed to be a reasonable one. Guy Senesac seems like a reasonable person when you talk to him, and you could ask him his view of what the unit is likely to to do in the future. Even so, Guy does not make the unit; he only has a repair you might want to try.
