So after I did all my water leak detection and sealing, after the last rainstorm I found water again on both sides of the rear hatch. So (sigh), I pulled the back completely apart and started really looking for the leaks. I found one on each side:

- Driver's side - the power antenna was leaking. Not at the flange on the body, and not from the drain hose - but from the plastic housing itself. Somehow, the water that gets inside the unit and is supposed to drain out the hose is seeping around the plastic seams and leaking inside the trunk. I've decided to replace the unit with a rubber fixed mast antenna just to simplify things, so that's how it'll be solved.

- Passenger's side - after looking a bit, I found something I didn't wanna see. The water is seeping from the welded body panel that goes around the gas filler area. At first I thought it was leaking from the filler neck or the rubber flange where the gas door lock lives. But all were dry and not showing signs of water when I took it apart. Upon closer inspection, all of the spot welds on the 2 body panels around the filler are rusted and seeping. I then tried to go into the wheel well and see what's up, and it was like going into a deep cavern where nothing was obvious and you couldn't really see all of the body when trying to look around the filler itself. The did a ton of underspray up there to protect the panels, but obviously something isn't covered (or loosened up). I'm going to try to get up there with some more rubberized spray to see if I can seal this up, but I'm starting to get the feel that the body of my 95 is starting to reach the end of the line here.....

My son (who drives the car to school) has given the car the nickname of the indoor skating rink, since after the water gets in it freezes. :-( Since he carries musical instruments like an upright bass and speaker cabinets (plus acoustic guitars), I may have to give the last rites to this Saab (at least for his use).

Bought it 3.5 years ago and it has served me well - but I think the body is starting to give up the ghost.....
