I believe Saab is using basically the same headlight switch design from the classic 900.
If so, the headlight switch should be able to be pulled out of the dash by simply grasping the knob and pulling straight out. Alternately, you can use a small screw driver or plastic putty knife to pry the switch out of the dash. The headlight switch can then be unplugged from the wiring socket. Be careful not to let the wiring socket slip back into the dash or you will have to fish it out again.
Turn the headlight switch over to view the "back end". In the center of the back or rear of the headlight switch is about a 1/8" diameter plastic split 'rod'or nipple. Squeeze the 'rod' and pull it staright out from the rear. The lamp is attached at the end of the 'rod'. The bulb is a small rice grain sized lamp that the dealer will have or you might find at an auto parts store. Reassemly is simply the reverse.
I believe that the headlight switch is typically a bit dimmer than the rest of the instrument lights, which just seems to be a "Saab thing".
