Unless you are using your convert top every day, a good temporary solution I came up with to confuse the SID when it was giving me that message (my switch had cracked and failed)was to wad a bit of tissue paper around the metal spike (on the leading edge of the top itself) that egages with the white plastic switch within the latch housing. The computer thinks the switch is still working because the paper put extra pressure on it when the latches are secured. Putting in (only) a new switch within the latch fixed the problem and was not too difficult...the hardest part is removing the hard plastic trim piece surrounding the window frame without breaking it. Good luck.
