Will they charge labor and/or should they charge labor on a known defect is a matter of debate. The dealer I went to declined to cover labor. I had already taken the part out in order to determine it was indeed the defect described by the bulletin. I asked them to install the kit (a very simple task once the parts are already removed) and reinstall the parts. They declined.

Shop around on labor charges for this kit. It's really not difficult, just takes time to perform.

The dealer is the same one I originally purchased the car from and the same one I went to when I first noticed the issue and the car was then going out of warranty. They have since disclaimed any responsibility for then attempting to charge $1500 for a complete replacement as opposed to installing the $8 repair kit under warranty.

Now the cars are clearly out of warranty, unless you have some extended warranty.
