Sounds like the shifter shaft seal.
It is a handful to replace that seal without doing damage to the shifter shaft.
The seal is kind of buried into the transmission housing and you need to get something in between the outer edge of seal and trans housing to pry it out.
If you accidently put some knicks on the shifter shaft it will keep leaking forever even with the new seal installed.
The shop charge is usually about 1 hour and a half.
