I was trying to think of the various conditions that could cause the T5 to run rich. I assume that the ECU must have some checks and balances that would trigger a CEL if some sensor was giving obviously bogus information.
The throttle position sensor is basically a big variable resistor that tells the ECU the position of the butterfly valve. The throttle position sensor should measure 2.4 - 3.4 volts at Idle and 0.7 - 1.0 volts at full throttle. Perhaps the throttle sensor is bad.
The ECU looks at inputs from maybe a dozen sensors to decide how much fuel to dispense. One of the sensors may be faulty or the ECU may simply have failed.
The trouble is the I am really just guessing at some possible causes. It will take a shop with the correct diagnostic gear to really track down the problem.
