Oh yeah!!!....... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Will I like the 9-5 as much as my 900NG?, BS, Sun, 15 Jan 2006 17:33:53 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Totyota and Honda for example keep making their cars bigger and bigger every year, but Saab stayw the same size so in one sense a 9-5 could be just an vastly improved NG900 if it were another brand than Saab. The 9-5 has all the little luxury touches lacking in a 9-3, dual climate control, tilt and telescope, standard heated seats, availible vented seats, availible killer Harmon Kardon sound, availible ultimate hatchback configuration, the very cool SportWagon.
Chassis wise the 9-5 is roomier, comes as a cool SportWagon the ultimate hatchback (I know I'm a broken record), has fully independent rear suspension for a vastly improved ride and handling, and has almost eliminated torque steer, comes in a V6 or an Aero which is the same motor as a Viggen, but a 9-5 Aero comes in auto as well. Economically the maintenance is the same and the fuel economy is only about 10% worse, but still excellent. 9-5's are tight with far fewer or no rattles and clunks vs the 9-3's, even in the SportWagon.
And finally a 9-5 is endorsed by Consumer Reports for safety as well as reliability. The Trollhattan plant received a thorough remodeling for 9-5 production with special GM attention to quality that really produced results.
Not that a 9-3 isn't charming, but a 9-5 retains the classic Saab look and feel with thoroughly modern amenities and chassis upgrades.
