I also have a viggen intercooler in my possesion and am looking to do the upgrade on my 97 900 SET. I am trying to source the hose used.
Here is the situation as I see it, other may correct me if I am wrong:
The hose, part # 4729950, fits only the 1999 9-3 SE HOT (Engine desination B204R) this was essentially the motor in our cars (which is the B204) with a viggen intercooler and some ECU adjusments to get the extra 15hp. 1999 was the only year for the B204R as in 2000 the 9-3 with both the standard turbo and HOT had many engine differences including T7 (vs T5) engine managemnt, a mitsubishi turbo (versus garret). These engines were designated B205 for standard SE Turbo and B205R for SE HOT. Becasue of the mitsu turbo the hoses do not match. Now as for the viggen, these engines regrdless of model year are 2.3 turbos, thus B235x motors and hoses do not match our retro either.
Here in lies the problems,
1. this hose is for a single year (1999), model (9-3), submodel (SE Turbo), subsubmodel (HOT). This all means very small run.
2. This hose for this very small number of OEM cars almost never fails (maybe never)as an OEM part, thus no need to manufacture many of these hoses.
3. Now all of the sudden, we are all retorfitting these intercoolers to many other vehicles and there is a call for the part. Saab (or their OEM) may have decdied not to deal with, or is having difficulty dealing with the demand.
On another note, Nick Talifero (genuineSaab)responded to an email I sent saying he is selling the hoses, but did not say if they were in stock. I would think that Nick or MPperformance or somebody else would make and economical aftermarket version for us.
and I assume you tried eeuroparts?
