There is nothing wrong with the fact that GM merged with SAAB and assisted in the design of the second generation 900. Without GM, there would likely have been no 2nd gen. 900, and would likely be no SAAB in the US, today.
The car is 12 years old and has 115k miles. Like all mechanical devices, cars will wear out with age and use. SAAB's are no different; everything you have listed, with exception of the A/C line, is a typical wear item.
The cost of driving a SAAB is going to be higher than driving a Toyota or a Honda, but the SAAB is unique and you don't see one in every other driveway.
The only economically viable way to own an aging SAAB is to perform the work on them yourself.
And by-the-way, I have a '94 900SE with 180k miles and wouldn't trade it for any Camry or Accord.
