If you get the codes P0171, P1171 and maybe P0300. Try to have the shop cut out and recrimp ground connection G7P, G7S, spliced joint J68 and J161.
They can find the location of those items studying WIS.
I have just recently heard more and more about those crimp connections and will try it on cars that have those fault codes recurring.
As I hope you understand, when the problem is gone for 350 to 600 miles at the time, it is not the easiest problem to find and it seems that your shop is probably as frustrated as we all are nowadays with these freaking cars from 96 and up.
All this trouble and massive amount of money because a few people here and there wants to breathe fresh air.
Ok, the last sentence was sarcasm but it feels overwhelming sometimes trying to fix emission related problems.
