Car Stalled -Not DIC realted. Any help, please?

Hi - My car (1996 900SE 2.0 turbo, 150K miles) stalled today in hwy at stop-and-go traffic. No warning. Car just suddenly lost power and stop. Try to restart the car - it clicked but could not get the car started. Though it was the infamious DIC issue. Replace the good back-up DIC, still could not start the car. I noticed that when I trun the key on, I can hear some sound (not ticking) for about one second. It's hard to describe what sound it is like. So if not DIC, what could casue the car suddenly stall in hyw without any warning? Fuel pump maybe? How can I check it by the way? Or CPS? But usually with CPS, I could restart the car after it cools dow, right? The car has been sitting one day, sttill can not start it. Thanks saabgang~
