You should buy a set of 1/4" extensions, ratchet and a set or seperate wobble sockets of proper size (10, 12 and 13 mm take care of most applications).
The 1/4" extensioners are great to be able to sneak in to tight spaces and the wobble socket makes it possible to come in from an angle.
When I put the head back onto the engine, I place all lower bolts in their holes before head and hang the intake gasket on the bolts. That way, I only need to sneak the socket and extension back in and tighten the bolts.
Be very careful when lifting the head off the engine so that you don't break the plastic timing chain tensioner.
