thanks I'll check out those threads. I've ordered the control arm from eeuroparts, comes with all the bushings and new bolt for the ball joint, except no tie rod bush; a new bushing for the stanchion arm (where it connects to the subframe, pretty rotted looking); and a cv boot kit, figure that's a goner tonight..
Hopefully I'll have this all apart tonight. The only sticking points last night (remember, this is on the ball joint R&R, not the cv on the other side which I start later this week, but the disassembly is very similar) are the stanchion arm is sticking (friction, not the bolt, I just have to wiggle it out) in the subframe; and getting the ball joint apart.
Really, not too bad so far, like I said, lots of PB, lots of elbow grease. The hub nut scares me - 214 ft lbs., what if I strip the bolt getting it off? Then I guess I would be hosed.
I'll post an update tomorrow.
