Hi all:
I've read a number of postings concerning sparkplug requirements, most of which are adamant that NGK plugs must be used and changed religiously at 10-15 k miles (standard) or 30 K (platinum). Are these based on observation of removed plugs or just playing it safe? Platinum plugs are rated to go 100 K miles in other vehicles and I wonder if the SAAB 2.0 L and Trionic system actually wear them out faster. I bought my '99 9-3 base coupe with 187,000 kms on it and immediately replaced the plugs with Champion platinums. 2 1/4 years and 57000 km later they're still in there and I have no discernable issues, but after reading the posts on saabnet I figured "better safe than sorry" and am picking up 4 NGK BCPR7ES plugs today. I'd be particularily interested to hear if anyone has used platinum or iridium plugs and put high miles on them.
Thanks in advance,
Fred
