A few short weeks ago I replace the starter in a '96 900S. (This was caused by a malfunctioning ingnition (key hole) that was not sprining back when starting the car. Actually had to replace the starter and alternator.) Friday afternoon as I was heading off on vacation the car wouldn't start. Sounded just like the starter again. When I returned from vacation, the car still won't start, nor could I pop it by getting it pushed and starting it. I would think that if the problem was just the starter that the car would start using this method. Any clues as to what else to be looking for? I am hoping to avoid the expense of replacing the ignition, soI have been mindfull to turning the key back when I start the car. Is this not enough to rectify the problem? Someone posted a while back that he was told to place penetrating oil in the key hole. Will this work to solve the problem? Need help as I am without the car right now.
