At long last my convertible top is working again. Because of repeated failed attempts at fixing the problem of a leaky top and finally having the top totally stop working while at the dealer shop, I honestly had lost confidence in my local Saab dealer to effectively complete this job. So, believe it or not, I took my 98 900S to my local auto mechanic in Brightwood Oregon near Mt. Hood. Along with the car I furnished new parts that I had ordered from The Saab Site including the PDF download of the appropriate shop manual pages also furnished by The Saab Site. With the furnished new top latches and micro switches plus the windshield header gasket and some sundry materials like weather-strip adhesive and butyl rubber, my local mechanic was able to complete a first quality job at hundreds of dollars less than the dealer. And the best part is that everything now works great! Mark, my local mechanic, said he really enjoyed working on the car.
