So I assume that you have a leak "somewhere" since you took the timing cover off?
It's quite easy to study the cam seals when the cover is off and if you don't see fresh oil at the bottom of the seal but still have an oil leak from somewhere, the next best bet goes to the valve covers since they easily dribbles oil down the side of the engine in all directions leaving traces that the cam seals could be the culprit.
If you go the valve cover route I suggest to get two new covers instead of just the gaskets since the original plastic covers start to get pretty tired by now.
Sadly enough, Saab raised the price on the covers just last year to about $170.00 from $120.00 but at least you get all the gaskets and o-rings in that price too.
