What I discovered in 230k combined in my 94 900 SE and 00 9-3, is that there are certain tires with certain tread designs that will quickly cup and make your car sound like a monster truck and like you, the noisiest ones were the Bridgestone RE 730's, they got loud at 8k and I finally had to get rid of them at 14k because I could not stand it anymore. A set of Falken 512's and Yokohama AV 100's had a similar fate. Here are MY FAVORITE tires I found to use on these cars (205x50x16 on both of my Saabs)that do everything well without the cupping and noise (in order of preference);
Michelin Pilot Exalto
Dunlop SP 9000
Pirelli P Zero Nero
I absolutely LOVE the Michelins Pilot Exaltos on my 00 9-3 (26k on them now, they may last beyond 40k at the current wear rate. Before you buy tires look at the reviews from Saab owners on Tire Rack. You will see there are a lot of folks that hated the RE 730's due to noise issues - any gen!
