CPO standards..... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: CPO is a good value......, Eric, Mon, 13 Mar 2006 12:29:14 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The integrity of the CPO program comes from the fact that a person buying a CPO has a right to certain expectations of things not usually covered by a used car sale. Wear items being 60%, services being current and documentable, overall cosmetic condition, are assurances provided by CPO not offered by private sellers and other than Saab dealers. The program is not designed for CPO'ing your own car upon the conversion from lease to retail, but a lease to retail is one of the loopholes where a customer can have their car CPO'd.
Blatantly ignoring wear standards when CPO'ing a lease to retail is an invitation to trouble and a possible warranty audit. There are wear items that can trigger other warranty claims and often cars are passed amoung family members and different dealers by folks who might not appreciate any exceptions to CPO policy granted on their behalf. As I said I don't want a car we've CPO'd showing up at another dealer 30-90 days later needing major wear items as sometimes these are chargeable back to the CPO'ing dealer.
