What else could make steering/front end feel "rubbery"?

Hey guys,
'99 9-3, 72k mi.
GenuineSAAB steering rack clamp/brace I just installed has definitely improved things over my defective MP Performance rack clamp/brace. However, my steering/front end still does not feel as solid over bumps as it did back when I first installed my MP clamp (before it failed.)
I now have 72k on the car, so I'm wondering what else could cause this feeling of a lack of solidity over bumps (sort of like a few rubbery reverbations over bumps, instead of 1 solid thump throught the steering/suspension). Shock mounts? I plan to install Eibach pro springs and Bilstein Sport shocks, and I guess new strut mounts too. Could this remedy that? If not, what else could it be? I don't want to make the major investment in the springs and shocks if something major is wrong with the car.
thanks a lot guys,
Alex
