Ok. That was just a joke.
The switch to synt oil have no connection to the temp problem.
It probably was that you disturbed the Saab continum by doing a change to your Saab so now the coolant thermostat or the temp sending unit decided to crap out.
I would start with replacing the thermostat if it has not been within 60-100K miles.
Actually to be more precise and if you are not doing your own wrenching but decide to let a Saab shop handle the problem.
I would hook up the Tech 2 scanner and read the actual coolant temerature from engine and other computers to determine if it is an actual mechanical problem or an electrical one.
