...a great example of how reliable Saabs can be if the maintenance schedule if followed correctly.
BUT, I gather from your post and response that you're not particularly inclined to do your own work (or diagnosis), thus you might consider for your own peace of mind shopping for a new (or newer) car.
I doubt anyone on this board would disagree with me when I say that once a car is over 100k there are some expensive repairs that you will probably run into (suspension parts, brake rotors, exhaust systems, A/C pumps). These aren't particular to Saabs; just normal wear and tear on any car. I also gather that you've been going to the dealer, who vs. an independent mechanic will charge you an arm and a leg for these routine repairs.
Just my .02.
If I had the money, I'd replace my cars at shorter intervals. Nothing is more of a PITA than when you have to drop $600 on things like brakes, A/C pumps etc. I don't mind working on cars, but I'd rather drive them.
