I gave up on my local dealer who wanted to charge me 740.00 to install the new DI on my 00 9-3. That one was replaced last year and had a software version of TK 3.6. The new one they showed me they wanted to install was the same version. This dealer has only been selling Saabs for 2 years, and no one there knows (or cares) much about them or their customers.
I called my old dealer 70 miles away (I know and trust the wise old Saab tech and Parts Manager, they have sold Saabs for 20+ years), where the parts guy informed me that the new ones he had were TK 3.7, Rev. B? He said he just got 5 units in and he would save one for me. It also has a different Saab P/N. He said those are the right ones and to come over and they will honor the recall with no BS. Too bad car will have to be towed there, because I wasnt going to pay the 740.00 for a part that should be replaced for free.
There is obviously a difference in Customer Service from dealer to dealer, though I typically use my local Saab independent mech for higher mileage cars. I cant say enough good about this guy.
Is this (TK 3.7) the version you are seeing for replacement?
