900 vs. 9000 vs. Aero

I posted on the 9000 board a few days ago, after having driven a Saab (1995 9000 CSE turbo 5sp) for the first time. There were just a couple things that annoyed me, but enough to keep me from buying it:
1. No center arm rest.
2. Shifter position. The 5sp stick seemed about 6 inches too far forward, and 3+ inches too low, at least for my 5-11" frame. Some 9000 owners suggest my driving position was too reclined - but I don't think so - I wasn't lounging like some American frat boy, with my head behind the B-pillar, my ballcap down past my eyebrows and me barely seeing over the dash.
I loooved the 2.3T and the smooth-shifting action it offered, but high miles and the above annoyances left me wanting more. I'm used to driving a sports car, where everything "comes to hand" and am hoping the 900 or Aero or some other used(read: affordable) Saab turbo addresses these niggling complaints.
Anyway, I'm interested on your thoughts as far as your favorite 1994-98 Saab model, esp in regard to ergonomics and performance. I live in central Illinois, USA.
