The p-brake shoes have zero wear and will outlast the vehicle if the mechanism is working right. If you need to adjust, this means that the p-brake shoes are dragging and wearing. So you need to remove the rear caliper, rotor and clean and lube the mechanism. Also check to see if the cable is binding in the cable set. Also clean the caliper slots and lube with brake grease as a rust preventative.
If you adjust the brakes instead of getting things right, you can do the job properly later, but with new p-brake shoes.
When replacing the rotors is the time to work on the then then exposed p-brake.
