I just ordered a set of four Bridgestone Potenza G009 from TireRack.com for my 9-3. I have same criteria as you, plus we're in snow country (W.NY). We have run Bridgestone Turanzas on our '99 9-5 Wagon, and they have been excellent. The Potenza is bit higher performance but cheaper, the Turanza is considered a Grand Touring tire so more $ for a bit more treadwear and comfort.
You might like either. Currently there is a $50 mfr. rebate on a set of four Potenzas, or $100 on a set of Turanzas. (Rebate good anywhere, I think, but tires must be purchased from in-stock inventory between April 6, 2006 and May 6, 2006.) Try asking for rep at TireRack named "Doc" - he seems to know his stuff.
PS - I was advised when I got the Turanzas to be sure to rotate them on schedule. True for all tires, really. Prevents irregular wear and vibration problems.
