I found a 4" piece of the coiled spring by my right front wheel. I raised the car up with the scissor jack, and as the strut/spring relaxed, I was able to tell that it was a piece off the end of the spring. It looks like it just fractured off this 4" piece at a 45 degree angle.

I'm inclined to take it to a dealer and have them look, but curious if there should be any urgency to getting it checked out for safety reasons. Further dumb question: Does the spring attach in any way or is it held in place by pressure?

I suspect my 4 year / 50K warranty just expired or will expire this month. Figures.
