Your 2002 has T-7 engine with it's motorized throttle. You could check the throttle plate (inside throttle body) for gunk or sticking inside the TB bore. If it's a real TB (or software) problem, you'll really want to take advantage of the warranty.
Can you listen under the hood to locate the clicking sound? Maybe something easy like a loose connection at the EVAP purge valve (right-front fender) or maybe the pushrod for the turbo's wastegate (down low behind the radiator)?
