Strange radio problem and my fix

I was on a long road trip this weekend with my wife, enjoying some CDs and books on tape (in the Clarion CD changer, really), when at one point I went to adjust the volume and NOTHING! Spinning the knob left or right had no effect on the volume. The radio volume is louder than CD, so we were kind of stuck at the last selected volume. I tried cycling the power, turned the car off, etc. No help. I didn't recall ever reading anything like this on saabnet.
I had just said something about how well the car was holding up, so I figured it was the car gods messing with me. After putting up with it for a bit, I jokingly said we probably just need to reboot the radio, since the volume control appears to be 'digital' rather than a traditional rheostat.
Turned it off, held down as many buttons as possible (CD, RADIO, TAPE, WB, and a few others) and hit the power. "ERROR" displayed on the SID briefly, and then, voila. Fixed.
"I guess you're going to tell the people on that saab message board about this, huh?" she laughed. She knows me too well.
