Teporary turbo disconnect ok?

With 107k on my '99 93 the turbo seals finally gave way. What was once a puff of blue smoke is now a billowing cloud that would make James Bond proud. My replacement turbo should be here in a week or so. As a temprary fix I disconnected the rubber intake hose at the throttle body to prevent ingestion of oil. Started it up and it seems to run acceptably. Understanding that it will temproraily be a dog, I have the following questions:
1. Any chance of screwing something up (mechanical or ECU)? I have a 3" cone filter in place temporarily. The turbo outlet hose now just blows air with an oil mist.
2. How can I manually keep the wastegate open to gain back a little power in the interim?
PS: Ever smelled burning Mobil 1? It's horrible.
