Hydraulics Failure on Convertible Top

I have a 2000 93 Convertible. When I try to put the top down, the fifth bow rises, the tonneau cover comes up, the fifth bow goes down, the top rises about 2 feet about the top of the windshield, and I get a "Soft Top Failure" message on the SID. Two things. 1) When the fifth bow is operating, I hear a clicking coming from the left side of the top right around the pivot point of the top. I'm wondering if this could be the problem. 2) I have looked at the hydraulic pistons and on of them is leaking around the seal on top. I belive it is the right outside piston. My question is, can a leak in any of the four pistons cause enough of a loss of pressure to stop the top from operating. How hard is it to change on of these pistions. The fifth bow has no trouble raising or lowering. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
