SID temperature reading can be adjusted by dealer or independent mechanic using the TECH II computer diagnostic tool.
The SID temperature does impact how the ACC units works as the ACC program takes information on interior temperature, outside temperature, amount of sunshine, etc. to calculate the correct ACC settings.
One thing to note is the the SID temperature sensor is located just behind the front license plate. Due to the position, the sensor is more sensitive to roadway temperature rather than air temperature. Therefore it is not uncommon for the SID sensor to read a few degrees higher than the air temperature, especially if the car is in stop and go traffic or has been parked for awhile. After driving for several minutes the SID temperature should more closely match the air temperature.
