I'm getting mixed stories on this from a local indy (very good and honest shop) and the local dealer (bumbling ....let's leave it at that). My car went off warranty a couple of weeks ago. A couple of weeks before that I had the indy check the car completely for any faults that I should have the warranty look after. They found some oil leaking from the head gasket at the timing chain (front of engine) rear side. The start of leak they said.
I had the car in a week before my warranty ended and the dealer 'didn't have time to look at'. Rescheduled for a week later and they tell me it's oversprayed rustproofing. I pointed out that rust proofing tends to burn off the engine. They then said such little bit of 'seepage' is normal and they won't touch it. Does that sound right? As I understand that's where the pressured oil enters the end. The 'seepage' doesn't look too bad....teaspoon of oil maybe, but should I have warranty fix it??? Replace or retorque?
They still are not finished with other warranty items which they are disputing....emblems were chipped by stones???!!! Flaking wheel paint....yep, you guessed it, stone chips!
We only have the one dealer in town, so I have no options. Next nearest dealer is 200 miles away. Should I get GM head office involved or could that jeapordize the quality of work that I will get?
Sorry for the long winded post but any help would be greatly appreciated,
Robert
