Icing and compressor overheats and compressor overheat switch opens up. That switch not designed for cycling and will fail.
Run a wire to the red wire an connector for the compressor clutch, along RH side tank of the rad and put an indicator lamp on that. If AC cuts out and lamp stays on, it is the overheat switch. Now you would have to find the cause of that, which could be the evaporator icing. That can be from a low charge and an low side pressure that drives boiling below 32F. A low side pressure of 33-34 PSI would be good. Find my other posts for operating state for that DIY recharge/check. And the evaporator anti frost switch would have to have failed, something that was common on early NG900's until an improved one was in production.
The anti frost sensor attaches to the low side pipe of the evaporator, inside the air box assy.
