The light will be effected by various factors, throttle position, speed, boost etc. In gentle driving it is a conservative shift point.
As a long time poster in the supply side of the business says, it's the 'go faster light'. If the light comes on you need to press the accelerator a little firmer.
It is a nice reminder when you're blasting donw the highway at 75mph in 4th
oh yeah shift.
I'm beginnign to believe running low RPM's (low oil pressure, increased boost) isn't a good thing, may contribute to fuel contamination of the oil.
I've started shifting at least 500rpm's higher than shift up light.
I won't stay in 5th unless I'm staying above 40mph, no redline stuff but just let the rpms come up, try to keep them above 1500.
Hasn't seemed to effect my gas mileage at all.
I believe under passenger footwell a blue/white wire runs the light, put a voltmeter on it to test before cutting. I remember a pin 55? to some connector ....
