...is limited to c900's and 99's for engine swaps, as well as a BMW. But I've had good luck.
If the rest of the car is as nice as you say it is, why not spend 3k to extend its life by 50,000 miles?
If you unload it now, you won't get more than $1,000, I'd guess. To replace it with another, comparable, 'vert (with unknown history) would cost about $4,000. Seems pretty equal to me, but you know your own car.
In this case, I think the math might be in your favor.
I'd also get a few other opinions from independent mechanics, if you have that option where you live.
