(Another) max roof load question

We're about to drive across country, and will be torturing our 9-3SE 5-door a bit with luggage. I know that the listed load max is 100 kilos, but I can't tell if that refers to strength at load points (like the rack-mount points) or if it applies mid-roof. A forum search finds shows that people have carried fairly heavy loads up on the bars, but we plan to strap a soft cargo bag directly onto the roof between the rack bars, and I'm a bit worried about deforming the roof, not to mention the strength of the sunroof. If we keep the roof load under (say) 150 pounds, can we be reasonably confident that the sunroof won't pop down onto our heads?
We did this once before, 15 years ago, in a VW Golf, and the roof was a little the worse for wear that time (but we were carrying more stuff that time). Thanks, DR
