I stumbled upon a fellow Saabnet poster who had one of these laying around, so I gave him a few bucks for it.
I had been researching the 2 and 6 point braces from various sources for a while now, and this one was too good of a deal to pass up.
The Construction of the brace is top notch. The coating (powder coat?) was in fine shape, especially considering it was a used piece.
The welds looked nice, and the hardware was easy to use, and included ny-lock type nuts.
The install on my 2000 Viggen was pretty straight forward, and followed suit with the install on MP's website.
The only glitch I found was that the brace, with it's straight design, would NOT clear my downpipe. This was solved by using a few washers on either end of the brace, but it was not fun to have to leave my car on jackstands and ride my bike to the hardware store.
The other negative to the washers is that the bar sits lower to the ground now, but still not much lower than anything else under the car.
The initial performance is apparent. You can feel the bar doing it's job, and the car sits much more flat in corners. This is on top of my Genuine Saab rear sway bar, which also made a dramatic improvement.
With just the rear bar, the car wanted to roll, but the bar prevented it. At the limit, the car would then squat, and THAT* is where you could feel the subframe flex.
With this piece, that* feeling of subframe flex is MUCH improved. I never want to say 100% gone, but it is much much better. Traction is also improved at the limit.
I can only imagine that the 6-point brace is at least this good.
The 2-point brace, especially used, is a good buy.
I would say try it if you don't have one.
