Assuming 1996 a/c is the same as 1995, the low-side is near battery and radiator, (likely the one you found), the high-side is behind the grille. The grill removes without any tools, just squeeze the two metal clips as you lift it off. When reinstalling, you must hook a couple of plastics hooks to the headlamps as you lower it in place.
As far as the a/c goes, do you know for sure the problem is low refrigerant before you go adding more and risk an overcharge? Does the comressor run at all? If so, observe the sight glass next to the high-side port with the a/c on max (recirc) at idle. Excessive bubbles in the sight glass indicate a low charge. If the compressor does not engage at all, you may have no refrigerant charge at all. If you don't have gages, you can verify that by carefully and quickly depressing the low-side valve with the engine off. If that is that case, you most definitely have a leak far too large to seal with any stop-leak product. I've never tried a/c leak stops, and I would be hesitant to do so on my car, but that may just be my cynical nature. ;-)
BTW, one of the most common point of leakage on our cars are the hoses that come off of the compressor, specifically, where the rubber portion of the hose joins the metal portion, near the front cross-member.
